Jon M. Ryerson started Ryerson Sewer Installers in 1980 with the help of his father-in-law, Bob Kimble. He specialized in installing and replacing city water lines, city sewer lines and septic systems. Over the years he built a high-quality reputation and has always stood behind his work.
His sons, Jon and Martin, started their careers working for the family business as teenagers. As young adults they expanded their horizons by working in different areas of the country — Jon in excavation and Martin in business administration. In 2018 they both returned to the area to purchase the business from their father. They changed the name to Ryerson Brothers Excavating LLC and greatly expanded the excavation services offered by the business, beginning operations as Ryerson Brothers on June 1st, 2018.
In May 2024, Lee Marcus purchased Ryerson Brothers Excavating and took over as owner. Jon J. Ryerson stayed on as a partner and project manager, keeping the family's standards in the field. Under Lee's ownership the company has invested in its crews and equipment and expanded well beyond its residential roots — taking on large municipal and commercial contracts, including a multi-year city water line replacement program in Hesperia covering more than 500 homes.
In 2026 the company launched Ryerson Utilities, a dedicated fiber and underground utilities division serving telecom clients across Michigan. More than four decades on, the mission hasn't changed: quality work, honest communication, and standing behind everything we build.
Every septic system we install comes with a FREE 2-Year Limited Warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. For added peace of mind, you can add our optional 5-Year Extended Warranty at the time of installation — five more years on top of the standard coverage, for seven (7) years total.
